DataNotice

Support

DataNotice helps you prepare connected-product notices in Shopify and show them on product pages. Need help? Email support@vallbyte.com.

Getting started

  1. Sync products. Open DataNotice from Shopify Admin. Choose a plan through Manage plan if requested, then select Sync products. Repeating sync updates titles and handles without duplicating products or replacing existing notices.
  2. Mark connected products. Open each product, choose Yes or No for Connected product and save. Choose based on the actual product; DataNotice does not determine its legal classification for you.
  3. Configure notices. Fill in the product's data fields and save. Use the missing-field guidance, Preview notice and the bulk tools below.
  4. Publish Data Act information. Complete notices are synchronized to Shopify when saved. In your theme editor, open the product template, add the DataNotice app block named Data Act information to a section that supports app blocks, and save. Confirm the product uses that template. Visit the product page to check the result.

Readiness

Not configured
A Yes/No connected-product classification has not been saved.
Not applicable
The product is marked No. Its public notice is removed when the change is successfully synchronized. Its saved notice fields are retained for reuse.
Incomplete
The product is marked Yes and one or more required notice fields are missing. A partial notice can be saved but is not published.
Complete
The required fields are filled in. This is a readiness check, not a legal compliance guarantee.

For Complete, provide data type, format, estimated volume, Yes/No answers for continuous generation, real-time generation, device storage and remote storage, and access instructions. A retention description is also required if either storage answer is Yes.

Excel and CSV bulk import

Download Excel template to receive synced products and current notice values. Product title is informational, Handle is filled in and the technical product identifier is hidden. Keep identifiers and column names unchanged. Enter Yes or No for ConnectedProduct; use the Instructions sheet for field guidance.

The worksheet supports normal copy/paste and fill operations, without tables, dropdowns or protection. Keep only the product rows you want to import, up to 50 per file and 1 MB. Save as .xlsx. Formulas and merged cells are not supported: paste values only.

Import file also accepts UTF-8 CSV separated by commas or semicolons. Download CSV template remains available in the import instructions. Products match by Shopify product identifier, or by Handle when that identifier is blank; SKU matching is not available.

Preview before confirming. Blank notice cells clear saved values; omitted columns preserve them. Only valid changed rows are applied, independently. Review the updated, skipped and failed counts and any errors. A preview expires after 15 minutes; preview again if the product has changed. After a connection failure during confirmation, inspect the products before retrying because some changes may have succeeded.

Bulk Apply

Select destination products, choose Apply notice from another product, choose an existing notice as the source and review the destinations before confirming. This overwrites notice fields with separate copies. It does not copy the connected-product classification, product title or Shopify identifiers. Classify destinations separately.

Plans

Starter supports 25 connected products, Growth 250 and Pro 1,000. Manage plan opens Shopify's plan selector. If a downgrade leaves you over the limit, existing notices are retained and additional connected products are blocked. Review the active price and trial directly in Shopify.

Troubleshooting

Products are not appearing

Check that you opened DataNotice in the intended store, confirm a plan if prompted, run Sync products and clear search and status filters. If sync fails, reload the app and retry once the connection is restored.

A notice stays Incomplete

Check the editor's missing fields and save the changes. Answer both storage questions; if either is Yes, add a retention description. Free-text answers must not be blank.

The storefront notice is not visible

Confirm Connected product is Yes, the notice is Complete and the save reported successful publication. If necessary, use Update storefront. Enable the app block in the correct product template, save the theme and test that product in the published theme. Check theme status checks the published theme; a block in a draft theme alone will not complete onboarding. A collapsed block must be expanded to see its fields.

An import fails or takes too long

Use a fresh template, preserve its identifiers, limit it to 50 product rows and paste values instead of formulas. Keep a single product sheet, optionally with Instructions. For CSV, save as UTF-8. Correct reported row/field errors and preview again. A preview timeout saves nothing: cancel, reselect the file or retry. Do not repeat a confirmed import blindly after a connection error.
